The Compassionate Personality of God

When I die I want to meet one of the authors of the Torah- the writer many scholars name as “The Yahwist Writer.”  God is given anthropomorphic attributes.  That is, God creates with his own hands and with his own breath.  God walks around in the garden and speaks with Adam and Eve.  God also goes looking for them calling out to them asking, “Where are you?”

While the first humans lose their immortality, God still recognizes that spark of divinity in them.  So, out of compassion God makes leather garments for Adam and Eve to assist them with their shame.  It is this same compassion that leads God’s Son, Jesus, to feed the four thousand in the Gospel of Mark.
