Poisonous personalities are extremely unpleasant or malicious people. They are not just impatient, they are deadly almost to the point of causing interpersonal death. Apply these types of persons to spirituality and we have snakes who will die in their sins, so says Jesus.
In these weeks of Passiontide, I want to make sure that I do not die in my sins. And I want to make sure that I do not act serpentine.
As a monk, when I get the urge to be poisonous, St. Benedict tells me to dash these thoughts against Christ. What will help also is prayer before the Crucified Christ. There at the cross I can see first-hand how I can be healed!
